Matric Results Class of 2021: North West
Matric results for the Class of 2021 were released on 21 January 2022. There are many ways that you can access your results:
- Online
- Newspapers
- Your Cell Phone
- Your School
Online:
The Department of Education:
The Department of Education has stated that you can access your results through their website. Registration is compulsory in order to view them.
Register to view your results at:
https://www.education.gov.za/ResultsRegTest.aspx
To register, you will need:
- Your Exam Number
- Your ID Number
- Any other personal details that may be needed
Once you have registered, you can view your results.
The Department of Education is available to help if you have any questions. Simply contact the Department of Education in the North West province through their website, or call 018 384 1715 or 018 388 0825
News24:
Matric results were made available for you to view on the News24 website. Sign up to view your results on their page at:
https://www.news24.com/news24/matricresults
Newspapers:
Matric results were also published in most major Newspapers. Some newspapers that usually publish Matric results may not have printed them this year due to some confusion after the Department of Education stated that results would not be published on any public platforms. However, this was overturned by the Court on 18 January, meaning newspapers were able to print Matric results.
Your Cell Phone:
There are two ways you can access your Matric results using your cell phone:
- SMS
- USSD
SMS:
To access your results via SMS:
- SMS your ID number and Exam Number to 35658
Once you have done this, you will be registered to receive your results via SMS.
Note: Your Exam Number and ID Number will be checked. If either of these is incorrect, it will not work, and you will not be able to view your results. The SMS costs R3.00 (Free SMSes do not apply).
USSD:
To view your results via USSD:
- Dial *120*35658#
- Follow the instructions
- Answer the questions and provide your ID number
- You will now be able to view your results
Note: Your Exam Number and ID Number will be checked. If either of these is incorrect, it will not work, and you will not be able to view your results. USSD is charged at R1,50 per minute. (Free minutes do not apply).
Your School:
Matric results are made available at your school. Contact your school’s administration to find out what day you will be able to collect them.
North West Matric Results Over the Last 5 Years
The North West Matric Results over the last 5 years:
2017: 79.4%
2018: 81.1%
2019: 86.8%
2020: 76.2%
2021: 78.2%
National Matric Results Over the Last 5 Years
Over the last few years, the national matric results have been improving. However, the rate has dropped by 5.1%. The results for the last 5 years are as follows.
2017: 76.5%
2018: 79.4%
2019: 81.3%
2020: 76.2%
2021: 76.4%

How to check matric results online
- Step 1: Visit the Department of Basic Education website.
- Step 2: Register using your details. (Please note you can only register for matric results until February 22nd the day before the marks are released).
- Step 3: Click on the link for 2020 NSC exam results.
- Step 4: Enter your examination number.
- Step 5: Your results will appear on the screen.
- Step 6: Click the download button and print.

Online
With everything moving online, it is a great place for you to get your matric results as soon as they are released. The Department of Education’s website will have all the matric results as soon as they are released. If you want to access your results this way, log on with:
- Your examination number
- Your ID number
- Your details
All private school students can follow the same steps as above on the IEB website as soon as their results are released. Keep in mind that IEB matric results might be released a few days earlier than the government school matric results.
Matric College has a credible news page that will post the matric results as soon as they are released in February 2021.

Your Mobile Device
There are two easy ways that you can access your matric results on your cellphone when they are released in 2021. These methods are:
- SMS
- USSD
How to get your Matric Results via SMS 2021 North West
- Step 1: Open a new SMS message on your phone
- Step 2: Fill in your ID Number AND Exam Number as the message
- Step 3: Both numbers must have 13 digits to be accepted
- Step 4: Send the SMS to this number: 35658
- Step 5: Note that the SMS will cost R3,00 (Free SMS does not apply)
- Step 6: Your exam number and ID number will be checked – if you send incorrect numbers it won’t work
- Step 7: You will get your results once they are made available on 23 February 2021
USSD
The second method you can use to access your matric results is through USSD, to do this:
- Dial this number on your phone *120*35658#
- You will be required to answer some multiple-choice questions.
- Enter your ID and examination number.
Newspapers
Finding your matric results in the newspaper is one of the most traditional ways of doing it. All you need to do is make sure that you have the correct paper.
